This is a quick round-up of some of the AC units that might work best for your home:

1. Split Air Conditioner

This is a type of AC unit that comes in two separate parts- the outdoor unit and the indoor unit. The outdoor unit contains the condenser which releases heat and the compressor, which pumps the refrigerant. The unit inside the house consists of the evaporator coil tucked inside the cabinet. The evaporator coil works by removing heat and moisture from the air. The split air conditioner is the most economical to install especially for a house with central furnace since they can share the duct work. 2. Window Air Conditioners

These are unique types of AC units designed to be installed inside a standard window. The unit is also referred to as the “unitary” air conditioning system. In most cases, the unit works best for single rooms due to its size. It is simple in design, and it comes with all components in a single box housing i.e. expansive valve, evaporator, condenser, cooling coil and compressor. It’s fitted in the slot made in the wall but more commonly a window sill. The system works by blowing out cool air on one end and eject heat on the other.

3. Ducted Air Conditioners

These air conditioners are mostly designed for use in commercial places such as in hotels and offices. It’s super versatile and highly efficient. If you want to cool more than one room or a larger space, this is the ideal air conditioning system that you should be looking for. This system comes with different arrangements; first, the unit may be designed with all the components housed in a single box. The second arrangement is where the condenser and the compressor are housed in one casing while the expansion valve and cooling coil are located in various rooms as single units.

4. Central air conditioner

Central air conditioning systems work great for cooling big buildings, offices, movie theatres, factories, houses and entire hotels. The cooling system is an excellent choice for big buildings such as hotels that will find it expensive to install individual units in each room. The system comprises of a huge compressor that can produce hundreds of tonnes of air conditioning. It also makes use of the two separate units where the condensing unit sitting outside while the internal evaporative unit is in the individual rooms. The system is available in different sizes depending on the nature of the load.
